Wow, the audience of this blog must be thinking how neglected the little seedling is. Her caretaker doesn't even take the time to report on her growth. Actually, I haven't watered the sequoia seedling lately because it has been watering itself, so I just assumed she'd take over this blog too. But I guess the blog is her mama's interest, and not her's. So let me give her audience a quick update...
She is no longer a baby (okay, she still is my baby but just not the baby wad she was in her earlier pre-human days). Her needs are no longer JUST ME (and my open arms, my breastesses, our skin-to-skin contact). She has wings that she experiments with and finds substenance from other places. Oh my, the little seedling is 15.5 pounds, 26.5 inches long (as of her 6-month well visit) and is sitting up on her own, crawling like a rock star, eating solids like mashed pumpkin and kale and bananas and apples, standing up as she holds on to something, sleeping in her crib (on good nights), listening to stories during story hour at the public library, banging instruments at "music in the park", smiling at complete strangers and making them feel "special" (i had nothing to do with this one), flying to far away cities, visiting exotic places (Pacific Ocean, Lake Tahoe, the White House, The Land, Lake Michigan beaches). She is on her journey, and her caretakers couldn't be more proud of her!
Seriously though, Sequoia has a way of making everyone feel special. Sometimes I think "Joy" would have been a more appropriate middle name for her than "Grace", because this is what she brings to the lives of everyone she meets. People just like her. And she's not a people-pleaser. She's just genuinely a happy baby, likes Life (like her mama), and is curious of her surroundings.
Her mama and daddy are having a grand ole' time watching her grow...

Beautiful Nani.
