Sleep

"How does she sleep at night?" ~ This seems to be the question that most folks are asking these days. And since so many are asking, I will share. But first I must admit, it seems that Sequoia and I are the only ones that don't actually care what the answer is. Our daytime and nighttime sort of just blend together. We don't make unnecessary demands on the other. We don't alter our expectations to fit one another's preferred ideal. We just are, and regardless of time; we feed, sleep, eliminate, grunt, rotate clothes, bathe, perform household chores as they come. It's nice this way. To just be. Without expectations. With love. ~ So although I'd be more interested in sharing her poop stories or her grunt sounds or her likeness for our outdoor walks in a sling together or her tummy time progress, I will entertain the audience accordingly. ... ... I tend to go down between 10 and 11PM. If baby girl is not ready at my time, I hand her off to daddy. He seems to be the better entertainer anyway. By midnight, she is usually ready to be changed and fed (at least that's what I'm told; sometimes I think it's just daddy having to get started on his school work) before being placed in her cosleeper. Then her and I wake every 2 to 3 hours for a quick 10-minute feed and a diaper change (remember: the cloth diapers require more frequent changings). Sometimes she is happy to be placed back in her cosleeper. Other times she prefers to sleep closer to her mama (which is secretely very satisfying, shhh). Between 8 and 9AM, I am ready to start my day. Usually she is not yet ready (just like her daddy!), in which case she continues to sleep closer to her daddy as I begin moving quietly about the house. By 10 or 11AM, they both begin to rise and shine, which is just in the nick of time because if it were any longer, I'd get bored (or annoyed). Overall, our nights are pleasant. I'm still averaging my 7-8 hours of sleep per night. I have no clue how many she averages, nor do I care. And our days are (usually) just as pleasant.
