Sequoia had her first slumber (sic) party on Friday night. Her cousins Jocelyn, Olivia and Teddy spent the night (with their parents, Ted and Abby) and made all her dreams come true. First off, she wasn't as bored as she normally is with her mama (geez, her mama can be boring. Sometimes she goes a whole day without ever getting out of her PJ's!). Second, Sequoia finally lost her center of everyone's attention (thank goodness!). And third, she was passed from one set of loving arms to another, which meant she had the in-arms experience the entire time without having to hear any complaining from adult carriers. She was truly adored by all. Jocelyn and Olivia took turns holding her (and even named their dolls "Sequoia"), and little Teddy was very gentle as he petted her. They giggled together, gossiped, fed the fish, drank lots of milk, slept little, and loved loved loved one another. They all shared the same futon mattress that their Dad's carried up from downstairs so that they could watch a Disney video (click image above to enlarge). Sequoia's mama popped popcorn and watched as the cousins ate most of it off the floor. The cousins had no rules: they stayed up late, skipped bathing, ate chocolate muffins for breakfast, and in the morning, everyone stayed in their PJ's until late in the morning (because why not!). Then everyone (because Sequoia's mama insisted. What is wrong with her?!?) took the public bus downtown in the frickin' freezing cold. They saw dinosaurs at the UM museum and walked blocks and blocks to get back to the bus terminal (complaining the entire time!). Sequoia's mama didn't know if Sequoia just wasn't complaining or if she actually froze to death in her sling (thankfully it was the former). Sequoia had a lot of fun with her cousins! The only thing missing was the presence of her other cousins Christopher, Logan, Emalyne, Jenny, Lucy, Charlotte, and Stella.

Wow, sounds like breaking the rules for the other cousins. Kidding Abby. ;) Seriously, sounds like a fun time for all. Love the pic above can be enlarged. And gosh, Sequoia sounds like she has the most perfect life of any baby I know. If I could do it all over again, Nani, this would be what I would aim for. Of course, I would have had to have started so many years later to the wisdom you have, which in many ways is also an intuitive primal wisdom. So happy for you all.
ReplyDeleteFunny, we broke all the rules and I didn't even realize!! Must have been having too much fun just being with all of you! I have to say though, *I* did not complain on the walk...the SUN WAS SHINING..heck, was it even cold? I didn't notice!! ;) Thank you to Sequoia for inviting her cousins for a slumber party--they all had so much fun. Can't wait to do it all over again soon. xoxo
